A chestnut tree is a city for birds.

Aquilino Ribeiro

An Ideia

This proposal translates the phrase of the Portuguese writer Aquilino Ribeiro* into "livable sculptures": "Castanheiro is a city for birds".

The main objective is to work with children on the concepts of inhabiting, caring for, preserving and deepening aspects related to sustainable development, nature protection and heritage conservation through significant artistic experiences.

The project referred to the theme of the Magic Library. It developed as an art project related to making known the character and the work of Aquilino Ribeiro, the arts and respect for the environment.

With this objective in mind, the children built and painted houses for the birds, which soon settled in the city of Viseu, specifically in the trees of the Aquilino Ribeiro park.

In the initial proposal, these little works of art would carry a QR code associated with the child or children who made the drawings. In addition, the QR code would be associated with a video or photos of children working or explaining their work.

The purpose is that in 10 years, any of the participants will be able to relive a magical moment in the lives of the people who made this house possible, which translates into a desire to return to Viseu to remember those good times.
